Title: Rainy Days and Mondays

Summary: Brenda hates the rain.
Author's Notes: Written for theechochorus. For leobrat, to wish her a happy birthday.


Brenda hates the rain.

She hates it because it reminds her of Sonny and all the pain he’s caused her over the years. She hates it because it reminds her that she let Sonny and his pull over her destroy the best thing that had ever happened to her.

She hates the rain because it makes her think about Jax, which is still too painful, even five years later.

If she has to think about Jax, she’d rather remember him in the sunshine. Remember him running along the beach with her in Malibu, remember him gambling with her in Atlantic City, remember him standing in front of her on the day of their second non-wedding looking at her worshipfully as she finally told him that she loved him.

But really, she doesn’t want to remember any of that either, because it makes what happened last between them all the worse.

Brenda remembers loving the rain as a little girl. She remembers splashing in puddles, and just standing out in it, letting it wash her anew.

She wishes that she could find that kind of childlike joy in the rain again.

Because maybe that will be when she can start remembering her past without pain.

Awww, this is good. I hope the somehow the rain can cleanse her of the past.

I think my memory is failing me...what was the last thing that happened between her and Jax?

All I remember is him being married to Skye and finding out that she was alive? I remember kissing in the cottage. That's about it.

Yes ma'am! No greasy midget mobsters need apply for Brenda. In the AU I've been so prolific in lately, there's totally a Jax/Brenda reunion. Maybe I'll work on that soon.
